Salon monthly financial report
A salon report should show revenue per stylist and per chair. The chair is the fixed cost, and the stylist is the revenue.
The six numbers for a salon
| Number | How to work it out | What it warns you about |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue per stylist | Service revenue ÷ stylists | Books that are not full |
| Commission payroll, share of service revenue | Commission ÷ service revenue | Pay plans drifting above what prices support |
| Retail sales and stock on hand | Product sales; product on hand at cost | Cash sitting on the shelf |
| Rebooking rate | Clients who book their next visit ÷ clients served | Next month's revenue, early |
| Gift card balance owed | Unredeemed gift cards | Services you still owe |
| Weeks of costs in the bank | Cash ÷ weekly costs | Room for a slow month |
Use these six in place of the general ones on the template's Report tab.
What to watch in a salon
- Retail stock building faster than it sells
- Gift card balances owed for future services
- A top stylist leaving with their clients
