A gym forecast is mostly about timing. Know when the billing run lands, when rent is due, and which weeks carry a payroll.

Getting the forecast right for a gym

  • Put dues in the week your billing run lands.
  • Take failed payments out of expected receipts. Not every billed member pays.
  • Add equipment purchases and lease renewals in their exact weeks.

An example

A gym that bills 900 members on the 1st sees about $54,000 land in the first days of the month. Rent of $18,000 goes out the same week, and payroll lands on the 10th and 24th. By the last week of the month, cash is at its lowest. The forecast shows how low, and whether a failed billing run would push it under payroll.

What to watch

  • Cancellations rising after the January rush
  • Failed card payments that nobody chases
  • Equipment lease renewals landing in one month
