Getting the forecast right for a courier business
- Put fuel and driver pay in every week, scaled to volume.
- Put each client's payment in the week it usually arrives.
- Add van repairs and replacements in the weeks you expect them.
An example
A courier company adds a medical lab contract with eight daily runs. Two new drivers start on the 1st, fuel rises the same week, and the lab pays monthly invoices 45 days out. The forecast shows about seven weeks of new cost before the first payment.
What to watch
- Fuel costs rising faster than rates
- Vans due for major repair or replacement
- Large shippers paying past 45 days
