Getting the forecast right for a pest control business
- Use recurring plan billing as the base, in the week it is collected.
- Add one-time jobs from the same weeks last year.
- Keep prepaid annual plans separate, because that cash pays for visits still owed.
An example
In March you hire two techs for the season and stock up on materials. Revenue from the extra jobs starts in April and peaks in June. A 13-week forecast built in February shows the March and April weeks where cash goes out first and comes back later.
What to watch
- Prepaid plan cash that is still owed in visits
- Hiring for the busy season before the revenue arrives
- Commercial accounts past 60 days
